In a viral video, the bride’s mother can be seen firmly asking the groom and his family to leave the venue. Of course many guests tried to convince her otherwise, but she stood her ground, saying, “If this is his behavior now, what will happen to my daughter’s future?”
The mother’s bold decision received praise online, with many calling her actions courageous. One person wrote, “She saved her daughter from a lifetime of trouble,” while another commented, “It’s better to face a few hours of embarrassment than years of regret.”

This incident is similar to a 2019 case in Uttar Pradesh, where a bride canceled her wedding after the groom arrived late.
The problem with Indian idea of wedding is that Marriage being called off is the highest degree of societal degradation. As absurd as it may sound like, the wedding of a girl is associated with the “pagdi” signifying the pride of the parents.

That alone makes the step taken by the bride’s mother exceptionally commendable. The mindset of the “Ladkiwale” listening to everything and complying to the whims of the groom’s side is extremely patriarchal.
However, people are congratulating the bride, as she dodged an abusive relationship by the brave intervention of the mother.
