has announced that it is bringing its AI-powered enhancements to

Workspace

apps, including

Gmail

and plans to start charging large businesses $30 per month per user. It means that the Duet AI-powered features will cost companies just as much as

Microsoft

’s

365 Copilot enhancements.

“The list price we came up with was in consideration with customers’ willingness to pay for the enterprise value we’re going to bundle into it,” CNBC quoted

, Google Workspace’s vice president and general manager, as saying.

She said that Google started to take preorders for

Duet AI for Google Workspace

at the $30 per user price in June, but didn’t disclose it publicly.

“We were a little surprised to see our friends in Redmond come up with the exact same pricing model that we had,” Pappu said, pointing out Microsoft which is based in Redmond, Washington.

Google Workspace revenue is covered under Alphabet’s Google Cloud category which produced $8 billion in revenue in the second quarter. In comparison, Microsoft generated $13.5 billion in revenue from Office products and cloud services.

, Google Duet AI can help users produce a text result by punching in a simple text prompt. In

Google SlidesGoogle Sheets

and take notes in Google Meet for those who missed video calls.

Pappu said that a consumer version of Duet AI for Google Workspace should become available “early next year”.
