With the highly anticipated Google Pixel 8 series launch just around the corner, tech enthusiasts got an unexpected sneak peek when an unboxing video of Google’s upcoming smartphones leaked on YouTube. The video, shared by PBK Reviews, showcases the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro giving viewers a glimpse of the packaging and a first-hand look at the devices.
Google’s much-awaited ‘Made by Google 2023’ event is scheduled to take place in New York on Wednesday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m. ET (7:30 p.m. IST). The tech giant is expected to officially launch Pixel 8 series and Pixel Watch 2 at the event.
In the unboxing video, both the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are seen neatly packaged alongside essential accessories, including a USB-C cable, a manual and a Quick Switch adapter. This adapter enables users to seamlessly transfer data from their old devices to the Pixel 8, for an easy setup process for new users.

The leaked video also revealed the possible colour variants of the Google Pixel 8 series. The Pixel 8 was seen with a sleek shiny grey colour body and a silver camera bar, while the Pixel 8 Pro was seen in a matte black body and black camera bar. These colour options align with earlier leaks, confirming the diverse choices users can expect.

Notably, the video also showcases the lock screen of both devices, indicating the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor, consistent with their predecessors. The leaked details, while unsurprising given Google’s history of leaks, provide reassurance to fans eagerly awaiting the official confirmation of features.

Renowned tech influencer M Brandon Lee shared in a tweet speculated that the leaked unboxing video could be from a factory worker.

It’s speculated that Pixel 8 Pro may come with an advanced camera system, featuring a 50MP wide lens, a 48MP ultrawide lens with Macro Focus, a 48MP camera with a 5x telephoto lens, and even a body temperature sensor. The Pixel 8, on the other hand, might sport a dual-camera setup, comprising a 50MP wide lens and a 12MP ultrawide lens with Macro Focus. Both devices are expected to incorporate AI-enhanced features, promising a better user experience.
