A goalkeeper is facing a massive ban after a savage act in the South Australia State League 2 grand final on the weekend.

Cove FC ‘keeper Ryan Veitch was issued a red card in the 86th minute of the match after a moment of madness that saw him level an opposing player.

Cove FC was leading 3-0 over Modbury Vista with the minutes ticking down until fulltime when things became heated.

That lead to Modbury Vista’s Dimos Karagiannis earning a penalty shot to keep his side in the match.

He duly wrong-footed Veitch and scored the penalty, bring the scoreline back to 3-1.

However as he ran through to celebrate with teammates, the Cove FC goalkeeper rose to his feed and delivered a brutal shoulder that knocked Karagiannis to the ground, clutching at his face.

Modbury Vista players rushed in to support their teammate while Veitch was given a red card and punted from the game for his actions.

‘He’s lost his clean sheet and he’s lost his head,’ the commentator said.

He will now face the Football South Australia Competition Discipliinary Committee where there is a good chance he will be rubbed out of a large chunk of next season.

‘He’s copped in square in the jaw, man he’s going to have a elongated off season by a number of matches,’ one follower posted.

‘Bro shoulder charged the attacker off the ball than looked shocked he got sent off,’ posted another.

‘That’s 5 weeks these days,’ added another.

 The Cove FC have earned promotion to the Football South Australia State League 1 competition following the 3-1 victory.

Veitch’s mother Lesley posted her congratulations for the team and her son.

‘Well done to everyone involved. It takes an army to run a club and you guys do an amazing job,’ she said.

‘Congratulations to [Senior Coach] Steve [Kitchin], his coaching team and support staff to achieving this fantastic result.

‘Last but not least the boys what a great bunch of young men, you have worked so hard for this so enjoy it and be very proud of everything you have achieved.

‘To my son Ryan Veitch couldn’t be prouder of you love you.’
