Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 154th birth anniversary.

The Governor paid floral tributes to the portraits of Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birthday anniversary also falls on October 2.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday shared a video of Germany’s Cassandra Mae Spittmann singing ‘Vaishnava Jana To’ on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

“Gandhi Ji’s thoughts strike a chord with people all around the world! Do hear this soulful rendition of “Vaishnava Jana To” sung by CassMae, whom I had recently mentioned during #MannKiBaat. She has shared it on her Instagram page,” PM Modi said in a post on X while sharing the video.

‘Vaishnava Jana’ is an old Gujarati poem, which was adopted by Mahatma Gandhi into the roster of prayers routinely sung at Sabarmati ashram.

In the recent episode of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on September 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated Spittmann for her passion for Indian music and culture. (ANI)

The Central Tibetan administration organised an official ceremony on the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Dharamshala on Monday.

The ministers of Tibetan government in exile and staff members of central Tibetan administration (CTA) gathered at Gangkyi Park at the headquarters of exile government here in the North Indian hill town Dharamshala.

They offered tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and prayed for peace in Tibet.

Education minister of Tibetan government in-exile, Dolma Tharlam, noted Mahatma Gandhi’s path of non-violence and truth and said, “his thoughts are more relevant than ever.”

“Gandhi ji has done a lot by adopting the path of non violence and truth and I think this has set a great example for we Tibetans like how we can regain our country,” she added. (ANI)

West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary on Monday.

Today marks the 154th birth anniversary of Gandhi, hailed as the Father of the Nation, who led India to freedom through the path of non-violence and continues to be a globally revered figure.

The governor placed floral wreaths on the base of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the downtown area of the metropolis.
