Game Changer: Was Sankranti Disaster Avoidable?

Game Changer: Was Sankranti Disaster Avoidable?

Mega fans eagerly anticipated the release of Game Changer. Directed by Shankar, the film was sculpted over three years and finally hit theaters on January 10 as a Sankranthi treat.

However, negative reviews emerged from the very first show, and the film failed to meet even the minimum expectations at the box office.

Director Shankar truly tested the patience of Mega fans during the production of Game Changer, with no updates for an entire year. Even the much-hyped songs failed to strike a chord with fans.

The film itself faced heavy backlash, with many labeling it a spoof of Shankar’s old films.

While Ram Charan’s performance did earn some praise, it was largely overshadowed by the film’s disastrous response.

Game Changer ended up being a huge disappointment for Mega fans. Adding to their frustration, Chiranjeevi’s film Vishwambhara was pushed out of the Sankranthi race to accommodate Game Changer.

Fans believe Vishwambhara, with its family elements and fantasy genre, would have been a perfect festive release. Chiranjeevi plays a brother to five sisters in the film, and fans think it could have performed well at the box office, similar to last year’s Hanuman.

While Game Changer was one reason for Vishwambhara’s delay, other factors like pending VFX work and incomplete OTT deals also played a part.

That said, releasing the film with the VFX shown in the teaser could have been disastrous. The teaser’s graphics were heavily criticized, leading to trolling on social media.

Had it been rushed for Sankranthi, it might have ended up as another embarrassment for Mega fans. To avoid this, the team is reportedly revamping the VFX entirely, aiming for higher quality visuals.

In hindsight, it seems a disaster was unavoidable for Mega fans this Sankranthi. Whether it was Game Changer or Vishwambhara releasing with earlier graphics works, the outcome might not have been much different.

Fans now hope the extra time spent on Vishwambhara will ensure a better final product and restore their faith in Mega projects.

Now expected to release in the summer, Vishwambhara might still have a good chance to succeed.
