The mania for Sunny Deol’s film, ‘Gadar 2’ continued on its second Sunday of its release too. After creating an all-time record for the biggest second Saturday with Rs 31.07 crore, the film minted about Rs 41 crore in India on Sunday, August 20. ‘Gadar 2’, also starring Ameesha Patel, continues to lead with its massive collection each day. It might now soon cross the Rs 400 crore-mark.

With Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel joining forces once again, ‘Gadar 2’ has managed to pull in a lot of audiences to theatres across the country. The sequel is smashing records at the box office with huge collections. On its second Sunday in theatres, August 20, ‘Gadar 2’ earned a whopping Rs 41 crore in India. This is an impressive number.Hence, the film’s total box office collection now stands at Rs 377.20 crore (nett). Meanwhile, ‘Gadar 2’ had an overall 72.60 per cent occupancy on August 20.

‘Gadar 2‘ follows Tara Singh as he ventures across the border in a daring attempt to rescue his son, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma, who has been captured in Pakistan. Set in Lahore during the year 1971, ‘Gadar 2’ perfectly delivers on its prequel’s captivating action sequences while depicting Tara Singh’s relentless anger towards those instigating hatred between India and Pakistan.
It is a sequel to ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, which was a 2001 film set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947. The film is said to be loosely based on Boota Singh, who was an ex-soldier in the British army. He was known for his tragic love story with Zainab, a Muslim girl he rescued during the communal riots at the time of the partition. The film starred Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in lead roles alongside Amrish Puri and Lillete Dubey.
