Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Admi Party received a severe setback in the Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana election results out today.
The party drew a blank in both the elections and this is a rude shock for the party ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections likely in February.

Kejriwal was arrested in the Delhi Liquor Scam and is currently on bail. After the release, Kejriwal gave up the Delhi chief minister’s chair and, banking on his popularity, said that he would take up the post only if the AAP formed a government after the Assembly elections next year.
Haryana borders the states of Delhi and Punjab where the Aam Admi Party is in power. Opening an account in Haryana would have been a huge morale booster for AAP but it is not the case now. Not opening the account in J&K is anyways expected.

AAP and Congress were to ally in Haryana but it did not happen because of the seat-sharing issues.
AAP demanded ten seats but Congress was not ready to give more than seven.

It was also a loss to Congress since the party lost Haryana narrowly.
After the Parliament elections loss, Kejriwal’s arrest, and this result, the Aam Admi Party’s future will be decided when Delhi goes to polls in February.
The election will decide the fate of a possible third alternative to the BJP and the Congress. If at all, the party fails to win Delhi, Liquor Scam and the BJP would engulf the entire party.
