Most mid-range smartphones lack performance, as these devices pack a processor that’s a bit dated. However, there is an entirely new set of phones launching in India this week, featuring brand-new chipsets that deliver almost flagship-like performance. This includes the Poco F6, Realme GT 6T, Infinix GT 20 Pro, and more.
If you are looking for a new smartphone, waiting a bit longer might actually get you better deals. Here are three such smartphones worth waiting for, especially if you are considering a new smartphone for around Rs 30,000.
Poco F6
Launching on May 23, this is India’s first smartphone with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. Poco’s F series of smartphones are known for their performance, and the upcoming model is likely to take it up a notch. Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3’s performance is between that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Hence, the Poco F6 is likely to deliver excellent day-to-day performance, and could also be a great smartphone for gaming.
The brand has already confirmed that the Poco F6 can clock over 1.5 million on AnTuTu, and the device will be available in two colour variants – black and titanium. The device comes with a 1.5K resolution 120Hz refresh rate display with Dolby Vision certification with up to 2,400 nits of peak brightness, and it will also offer the latest memory technology such as LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of pricing, the base variant of the Poco F6 might cost around Rs 30,000.
Realme GT 6T
It’s been a while since Realme introduced a performance-oriented smartphone. The company is making a comeback with the Realme GT 6T, India’s first smartphone with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC. It is the most powerful 7-series chip from Qualcomm, capable of running on-device generative AI models with up to 7 billion parameters. Launching on May 22, GT 6T is also said to have one of the brightest displays on a smartphone, which can reach up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
According to Realme, the GT 6T can also score over 1.5 million points on AnTuTu. It will pack a massive 5,500 mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging, capable of charging 50 per cent of the battery in 10 minutes. The device seems to have a dual-camera setup, and it is also expected to cost around Rs 30,000.
Infinix GT 20 Pro
Infinix is coming with a new gaming smartphone – the GT 20 Pro, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra. Other than a fast 144Hz refresh rate flat panel display, it also packs a dedicated gaming chip from Pixelworks. This is said to enable up to 90 fps gaming on popular titles. The device will offer up to 8 GB RAM, 256 GB of storage, and it also packs a stereo speaker setup tuned by JBL.
Launching on May 21, other prominent features of the Infinix GT 20 Pro include a clean Android 14-based xOS for GT, a 108 MP primary camera with support for 4K recording, and a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The brand has confirmed that the Infinix GT 20 Pro will be priced well under Rs 25,000.
All three upcoming phones, launching this week, are performance-focused devices. These are expected to be priced aggressively. For those who have been looking forward to a new phone, these look like the right choices, especially for those who want a phone primarily for gaming and multitasking.
