    Former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan will be investing ₹1,400 crore to set up a beverages and confectionery unit in Badanaguppe, Chamarajanagar district, Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil said on Tuesday.

    The announcement came after Patil held discussions with Muralitharan, who met him to talk about the project. The beverages and confectioneries will be manufactured under the brand “Muttiah Beverages and Confectioneries.”

    “The project was initially planned with an investment of ₹230 crore, but the budget has been revised to ₹1,400 crore. It will be completed in a few years,” Patil said.

    The minister said 46 acres of land have already been allocated for the project, and manufacturing operations are expected to begin in January 2025.
