Former Arsenal favourite Tomas Rosicky has spoken out about potentially returning to his old club to take up the vacant sporting director position.

Arsenal are still looking for a replacement for Edu after his shock departure back in November.

For now, Jason Ayto – who was Edu’s No2 – has stepped up to take the role on an interim basis, but a permanent successor to the Brazilian is expected to be appointed in the coming months.

Rosicky spent 10 years at Arsenal between 2006 and 2016, and is now the sporting director for Sparta Prague. He has been linked with a return to the Emirates, and has now addressed the rumours, admitting there has been interest but he is yet to receive an official offer.

He told Flashscore: ‘The reality is simple. My connection with Arsenal is natural because I spent 10 years there, and when you spend 10 years somewhere you form a strong, very strong bond.

‘So I have this strong bond with Arsenal and I have a strong bond with Sparta Prague. Those are the two clubs that I love football-wise because I have a warm relationship with them.

‘I am honoured by the fact that I am even being considered by Arsenal’s management, but I can say that I don’t have any offer to go to Arsenal.

‘As I mentioned before, I’m aware that I’m on their radar or I figure in their considerations in some capacity, but I haven’t received any offer.’

If Rosicky does get the role, he can expect a busy summer after Arsenal endured a difficult winter window.

They failed to bring in a single player, despite fans calling for Mikel Arteta to strengthen his frontline.

A new striker is set to be top of the agenda, while Arsenal are also reportedly showing interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Kimmich.
