It’s not often you see someone with years of white-collar experience choosing a blue-collar job. But that’s exactly what Kamlesh Kamtekar, a Mumbai-based graphic designer with 14 years of experience, did.

After being laid off and facing rejection after rejection in his job search, Kamtekar decided to leave his design career behind and drive an auto-rickshaw instead.

In a viral LinkedIn post, Kamtekar shared his struggles of applying for job after job, networking endlessly, and still facing rejection. The main reason? His salary expectations didn’t match what companies were willing to offer.

“If I’m going to earn a low salary anyway, why not be my own boss?” he thought. So, he gave up his design skills and embraced his new business of driving an auto-rickshaw. “I’ve sacrificed my skills for this. Bless my new business,” he said.
