School bus crashes in New York suburb; injuries reported
Multiple injuries were reported Thursday when a school bus crashed into a house and another vehicle in a suburb north of New York City. The crash happened just before 9 a.m. in the village of New Hempstead in Rockland County, according to Ramapo Police Sgt. Andre Sanchez. News reports said several children and the bus driver were taken to hospitals for treatment. Police did not immediately release details on the severity of their injuries.

552 kg of poppy seized in Samba
The anti narcotic task force arrested two suspected drug peddlers on Thursday and recovered 552 kg of poppy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, officials said. The team was conducting routine checks on a highway and intercepted a truck at Shah-Balore near Mansar Morh, they said. During the search, police recovered over 552 kg poppy and Angrez Singh was arrested. A case has been registered in this regard, they said, adding that an investion was on.

India cuts windfall tax on crude oil output, diesel exports
India on Thursday cut the windfall tax on crude oil to 4,900 rupees ($60.34) per tonne, according to a government order. It also cut the export tax on diesel to 8 rupees per litre. Changes to the windfall tax will be effective from Friday, the order said.

South Korean woman YouTuber harassed in Mumbai, 2 arrested
The Mumbai Police arrested two people accused of harassing a South Korean woman YouTuber in the Khar area of Mumbai. Reportedly, the YouTuber, a South Korean national, was harassed and molested by two people at night while she was Live Streaming from the Khar area of Mumbai. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The accused have been identified as Mobeen Chand Mohd Shaikh (19) and Mohd Naqib Sadarialam Ansari (20). After the video went viral, the Khar police registered a case under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested the accused youths.

Coal India’s Apr-Nov production rises 17 pc to 412.6 MT
State-owned CIL on Thursday said it produced 412.6 million tonnes of coal in the April-November period of the current fiscal and expressed confidence that it will surpass the the output target set for the current financial year. The PSU had produced 353.4 MT in the April-November period of the last financial year. Coal India Ltd (CIL) which accounts for over 80 per cent of domestic coal output is eyeing a production of 700 million tonnes (MT) in the current financial year.
