In a dramatic turn of events, SRH’s debutant seamer Nitish Reddy was devoid of his maiden IPL wicket after the third umpire declared his vicious bumper, which got rid of Faf du Plessis, a no ball. Du Plessis’ survival came as a sigh of relief for the visitors, who have got an outstanding start to their innings in pursuit of a challenging target of 187 runs.Â
The incident took place in the ninth over, when the RCB openers, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, were leading their team towards a convincing victory through a sensational opening stand. Reddy, who received his maiden IPL cap earlier, banged the ball short, with RCB skipper Du Plessis swatting it flat towards the mid-wicket region. However, the ball failed to cross the fence, as Mayank Dagar plucked a stunning catch.Â
But just when Du Plessis started to make his way back to the dugout, the on-field umpires referred it upstairs to check the fairness of the catch. However, unfortunately for SRH, the third umpire found the delivery to be above Du Plessis’ shoulder and declared it a no ball as the bowler had already delivered a bouncer earlier in the over.Â
Thus, Du Plessis got a lifeline and the RCB fans in the stands jumped in jubilation. Riding on the sensational opening partnership between Kohli and Du Plessis, RCB are well on course for a commendable victory, placed at 117 for no loss in 13 overs at the time of writing.
