Meanwhile, the biennial election for 11 seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on July 12, the last day of budget session of the state legislature. Of the 11 MLCs retiring on July 27, barely months ahead of the Assembly polls, four are from the BJP, two from the Congress while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Peasants and Workers Party, and Rashtriya Samaj Party have one each.
In other news, Trinamool Congress MPs Kalyan Banerjee, Sagarika Ghosh and Saket Gokale visited SEBI demanding an investigation in the alleged stock market manipulation during exit polls. The MPs on Tuesday morning met NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar who said that his party is supporting them in this cause. The TMC MPs were accompanied by Shiv Sena UBT MP Arvind Sawant in presence of MP Supriya Sule and ex MLC Vidya Chavan.
