The American dream just turned into a nightmare for an NRI student. While his parents spend a fortune on his education, dreaming of life in America, he is left feeling like a “loser.”
Taking to social media, an Indian student studying in one of the top 20 US colleges shared his struggle. Raised in an African country, he says his parents always pushed him and sent him to the US to one day get settled in the country.

However, he is now regretting coming to America for his bachelor’s, feeling like a complete failure. He has no internships, bad grades, and no strong resume to show recruiters.
The student says he has no real friends, no support, and therapy didn’t help either. “I’m a loser,” he wrote, ranting his thoughts in a long post.

He didn’t get into computer science and had to settle for data science, which he feels has hindered his chances for a better job too. With the US job market crashing, his future looks even more uncertain.
“My life seems like an endless grind and rat race that leads to nothing meaningful. I don’t want to live anymore like this.” the F-1 student wrote, ending his post.

Netizens came to his support and boosted his confidence, telling him to be kinder to himself as he is just a second-year student now. Moreover, getting to a top 20 college is no small feat to begin with.
While it can be tough figuring things out at a young age, the US immigration system and economy aren’t being kind to anyone. Indian students and workers are facing troubles that are taking a serious toll on their mental health.
