Erling Haaland completed a century of goals for Manchester City on Sunday when he opened the scoring against Arsenal in the ninth minute.

This was only the 105th game of Haaland’s City career, following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in June 2022.

Haaland is now the joint-fasted player to reach 100 goals for a European club, after Cristiano Ronaldo reached his first tonne for Real Madrid on his 105th appearance for the Spanish giants back in 2011.

Ronaldo eventually ended his Madrid career with a club-record tally of 450 goals in 428 games in 2018. He also also hit triple figures for Manchester United and Juventus.

Seventy-three of Haaland first 100 City goals have come in the Premier League. He has so far netted 18 times in the Champions League for the Manchester outfit, as well as scoring on nine occasions in domestic cup matches.

Haaland celebrated his 100th City goal by swinging a scarf above his head after it was thrown onto the field by a supporter.

The big screens at the Etihad Stadium celebrated Haaland’s landmark by displaying a pre-made graphic.

City also published a club statement just five minutes after Haaland’s historic strike had hit the back of Arsenal’s net.

The statement highlighted the fact that Haaland was now the 19th player to score at least 100 goals for City’s men’s side.

It concluded with the message: ‘Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Erling on this latest landmark in his incredible City career!’

City’s celebrations had died down slightly by half-time on Sunday after Arsenal hit back to take a 2-1 lead into the interval.

Riccardo Calafiori equalised with a fine solo strike to score the first goal of his Premier League career in the 22nd minute before fellow defender Gabriel completed the turnaround.

However, City were given a boost eight minutes into first-half stoppage time when Leandro Trossard was sent off by referee Michael Oliver.

Trossard was shown a second yellow card for potentially delaying a restart by kicking the ball away after fouling Bernardo Silva.
