Chairing a review meeting of districts coming under Kalaburagi division in Raichur on Monday, Labour Minister Santosh Lad directed the officials concerned to ensure that government schemes reach the real beneficiaries.
The Minister asked the district-level officers to review the progress of work in their respective districts on a regular basis and submit reports to the State government.
“Projects and schemes of the Labour Department should be properly implemented. Also, you should set up a helpline number to assist workers. Officers should take action to display details of minimum wages and the date of wages on boards in organisations and industries established under your limits,” the Minister told the officials.
He warned them of action if labour cards are issued to ineligible people.
Mr. Lad further said that industrialists belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and also employees working under such industries will get help from the State government.
The department will pay provident fund and other benefits in the case of permanent employees, he added.
As many as 5,327 interceptions have been made in the districts under the division to identify child workers and of them, 226 child workers have been identified and rehabilitated, the meeting was told.
The Minister distributed cheques and kits to eligible beneficiaries during the event.
MLAs Basanagouda Daddal, G. Hampayya Naik, Karemm G. Naik, Commissioner H.N. Gopalkrishna, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K., Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat Rahul Pandwe, Superintendent of Police M. Puttamadaiah, Labour Department officers and others were present.
