Emraan Hashmi’s Sure Shot Comeback

After teasing cinema lovers with an animated video, Emraan Hashmi finally announced Awarapan 2 officially through his social media handles on March 24, 2025.

The one-minute teaser features certain moments from the first film, including the sequence where Emraan’s character is shot dead towards the end.

Emraan’s dialogues can also be heard in the background and one of the hit tracks, Tera Mera Rishta, is played alongside it.

The video ends with the camera focusing on the intense eyes of Emraan, seemingly giving a hint about his character’s look in the sequel. This is followed by the title reveal alongside a release date, which is April 3, 2026.

Awarapan came out back in 2007 and it is considered to be one of the costliest films of Emraan Hashmi at the time.

Unfortunately, the film flopped at the box office despite being praised for its storyline, performances, and music. But with time, Awarapan became a cult classic, specifically for its soundtrack.

Awarapan 2 will be directed by Nitin Kakkar, who helmed Jawani Jaaneman, featuring Saif Ali Khan. Vishesh Films has returned to produce the film and it will be written by Bilal Siddiqui.

Despite that it is a sequel, it can be still considered a unique attempt made by Bollywood today since most of the films are not working.

Emraan has been an underrated actor and because audiences expressed their excitement when the first animated video came out a few weeks ago, Awarapan 2 will emerge as a hit.

But that is entirely dependent on the film’s script and music, which has been an important part of Emraan’s films in the past.

Since Emraan’s character Shivam died in the first film, the story will be completely different. The makers have got an entire year and now it is their responsibility to use all these months to prepare an amazing film that would pull crowds to the big screen.
