In a recent promotional interview of Devara and Jigra with Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt, Jr. NTR ignited a thought-provoking discussion that captured the audience’s attention.
He posed the classic question of who holds more influence in filmmaking: the editor or the director. He asked, after a film shoot is completed, if the editor takes over a director or if the director takes over the editor.

Jr. NTR expressed his compelling perspective, emphasizing his belief that while films are written, they are ultimately “crafted on the editing table.”
Karan Johar passionately echoed NTR’s sentiment, stating that the editor serves as the final gatekeeper, as all takes ultimately pass through their hands.

He argued that the decisions regarding what makes it into the final cut should rest solely with the editor, as they possess the necessary objectivity to determine the film’s direction.
Furthermore, Karan asserted that a director’s presence in the editing room can cloud their judgment. He boldly claimed that directors who linger too long in the editing suite often find themselves trapped in their own work.

Adding to the discussion, NTR compared the director to a father sending his daughter off after her wedding, with the daughter representing the film as it transitions to the editor for finalization.
As anticipation builds, Jr. NTR’s Devara is set to hit theaters on September 27, 2024.
