UN General Assembly President’s 3-day India Visit Starts Today
Csaba Korosi, President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), will arrive in India on Sunday for a three-day visit during which he is expected to discuss various global challenges with his Indian counterparts.
The trip will be Korosi’s first bilateral visit to any country since assuming the UNGA presidency in September 2022, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Korosi is scheduled to attend the “Beating the Retreat” ceremony at New Delhi’s historic Vijay Chowk.
The president of the United Nations General Assembly’s (PGA) 77th session will meet with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss key multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
“It would help reinforce India’s steadfast commitment to multilateralism, including its current G20 Presidency, and how it would address these global challenges meaningfully for a better future for the Global South,” it added.
Korosi has already stated his five priorities for his UNGA presidency, which include sticking to the UN charter’s basic principles, making significant and measurable progress in sustainability transformation, enhancing the role of science in decision-making, and increasing solidarity to better endure new chapters of crises confronting the world.
Pakistan FM Bilawal Bhutto To Visit Russia Today
Pakistan’s foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, will travel to Russia on Sunday for a two-day official visit to discuss bilateral relations across the board, the foreign ministry announced on Saturday.
Bilawal will travel to Moscow at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, according to a statement.
He will hold official talks with his Russian counterpart, during which the two will discuss the entire scope of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to the statement.
The visit follows a high-level Russian delegation led by energy minister Nikolay Shulginov’s visit to Pakistan last week to investigate the possibility of providing oil to the cash-strapped country.
