Earthquake of magnitude 7.2 hits Russia’s Kamchatka



A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.2 struck off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s far-east region, according to a report by the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was reported in the early hours of Sunday morning
The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 90 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of nearly 50 kilometers (30 miles) beneath the ocean’s surface.
Following the earthquake, the US National Tsunami Warning Center issued a Tsunami alert.
