Dr Romantic season 3 (낭만닥터 김사부3) is the latest season of the romance medical Kdrama of the same name directed by Yoo In-shik. The show stars Han Seok-kyu, Lee Sung-kyung, Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Joo-heon, So Ju-yeon, Yoo Yeon-seok and Jin Kyung, alongside other cast members.
The new season brings the grand opening of Doldam Trauma Centre but with new challenges as Kim Sa-bu and his team face them in their professional and personal lives. As the scale of incidents and accidents that the hospital has to manage, the team has to provide top-quality care for their patients.
The show will have 16 episodes and be broadcasted on SBS on the Friday-Saturday slot at 10 PM previously occupied by Taxi Driver season 2. Dr Romantic season 3 episode 16 has a run time of 82 minutes.
The synopsis of the show reads:
AT DOLDAM, A SMALL COUNTRYSIDE HOSPITAL, KIM SA-BU WORKS WITH PASSIONATE YOUNG DOCTORS AND TREATS VARIOUS PATIENTS, DELIVERING HEALING TO MANY.

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 16 begins with the hospital being evacuated when it is realised that Kim Sa-bu is missing. Eun-tak soon rushes to the trauma centre and informs Woo-jin, Eun-jae and Dong-ju about the same en route. Everyone is busy looking for Kim Sa-bu when Nurse Oh realises where he might be.
She makes her way to the operating room at the trauma centre where Kim Sa-bu looks as his dream faces the sea of flames that is heading towards Doldam. Nurse Oh tells him that his dream had been Team Doldam, this is the dream that will live on no matter where they go. While the building may crumble and turn into ashes, the skilful team that he has attracted will not fall as long as he is here.

Kim Sa-bu understands her words and uplifts himself to begin again when a thunderclap attracts their attention. Everyone left behind at Doldam hears the sound and is shocked yet hopeful. Soon, the first drop of rain falls, followed by a shower of relief that fills the people of Doldam with joy.
Everyone stops from leaving Doldam while the chief Paramedic tells them that the evacuation order will stay until the next morning. Kim Sa-bu, Nurse Oh, Dong-ju, Woo-jin, Eun-jae, and everyone else are overjoyed because of the falling rain while Eun-tak finally manages to fix his relationship with Ah-reum. He apologises to her and confesses his feelings, making Ah-reum overjoyed.
Elsewhere, Dong-ju receives a call from Seo-jung and tells her about their junior surgeons at Doldam. On the other hand, a wounded Assemblyman Ko rushes into the empty trauma centre screaming for help. Woo-jin and Eun-jae hear her screams and rush to take a look.
Woo-jin and In-su find two critically wounded men in her car and ask for others to arrive there as soon as possible. Kim Sa-bu is alerted about this and soon the patients and brought inside to get treated. The rescue soon begins, however, with most of the staff having already evacuated, there is a shortage that needs to be covered up.
Dong-ju soon arrives at the scene and helps with the rescue; this scene of his pupils working together supports Nurse Oh’s words to Kim Sa-bu as he witnesses his dreams come true. The rescue continues and the patients are taken for surgery while Assemblyman Ko is taken to get treated.
The next morning, Assemblyman Ko is surprised to find out that the doctors have been working all night. Meanwhile, Dong-ju is worried about Kim Sa-bu’s wrist but is assured when the teacher shows his strength once again. As he expresses his gratitude to Kim Sabu for showing him a new path and his capabilities, Kim Sa-bu tells him that he would have found his path without him because that is how capable he is.
Kim Sa-bu once again witnesses the dream he once cultivated in Doldam which began on the day he brought Seo-jung to the hospital. As the scenes of the first time each person on this team came to Doldam pass through, he recalls his conversation with Nurse Oh as he set a new dream for himself.
He then leaves the operating room to find Assemblyman Ko waiting outside for him to mock her. However, he doesn’t go according to the script and she asks him why. Kim Sa-bu then tells her the importance of hospitals in the big cities that people have been building and the significance of the place that fights each day to save human lives.
He apologises for what happened to her son, however, he hopes for her to keep politics out of the way when it comes to Doldam and think about the bigger picture. Kim Sa-bu then makes his way to the hospital where the older team come together and sighs with relief after the hectic night they faced.

Right then, Kim Sa-bu speaks the jinx words which earns him the fierce stares of those around. Kim Sa-bu laughs at the so-called jinx they all believe in when the phone rings and informs him of incoming patients. The days at Doldam go back to normal while Min-guk waits for the result of the inspection.
Meanwhile, Eun-jae and Woo-jin prepare gifts for each other while Sun-woong prepares a farewell party for Dong-hwa on the day of Woo-jin’s birthday. The two find out that the other has confirmed to show up at the farewell which shocks the other. However, what shocks them further is the fact that everyone at the hospital is aware of their relationship and is asking for a housewarming party.
Elsewhere, Kim Sa-bu gifts Dong-hwa the scalpel he had prepared for his sister and Kim Sa-bu’s first student Jang Hyun-joo. This shocks Dong-hwa but soon gets over it. Kim Sa-bu then advises him to follow his heart when making the decision on what to do next which helps Dong-hwa in deciding if he going to return or not.
Later, Eun-tak and Ah-reum and waiting at a restaurant to get some food for the party when the latter asks about the kind of house he would like to live in. The two discuss their plans for the future as Ah-reum tells him of her dream house with a yard.
They soon make their way to the party and the celebrations begin when Dong-hwa announces that he will be staying at Doldam for the next four months. This brings more joy when In-su receives a message and rushes back to the hospital where his wife and daughter arrive.
Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 16 Ending
They have decided to come to visit every weekend which fills In-su with joy. Later, Woo-jin receives Eun-jae’s gift and brings his gift for her which is a ring with a meaning that she has been waiting for. The subtle proposal thus happens while the asleep Eun-jae’s ring finger is no longer empty and Woo-jin arrives to say goodbye before leaving for his jog.
Eun-jae feels the strange sensation on her finger and is surprised, thus rushing to stop Woo-jin and celebrate their happy moment. On the other hand, Min-guk finally receives the letter he has been waiting for the budget for the trauma centre has been approved. He shares this joy with Kim Sa-bu when the officer from the Ministry of Health and Welfare arrives with his set of complaints.
Dong-ju and Min-guk face these after which Woo-jin asks the former about his plans for the trauma centre. With the goal to bring the trauma centre to level one, Dong-ju asks for Woo-jin’s support. Elsewhere, the chapter between Kim Sa-bu and Assemblyman Ko comes to an end with the mature revenge taken.
Another call to Doldam brings the staff together and ready to rescue, with Woo-jin as part of the trauma centre and the young doctors taking take of the hospital. Later, another face returns to Doldam and it is none other than Yoon Seo-jung.
Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 16 Review
The end that begins with many more stories to come and goals to reach, that is the way Dr Romantic ends. The season finale brought in another mix of tears, excitement, happiness, relief, and a wish for another journey with the Doldam Team.
Dr Romantic season 3 finale has really won our hearts with the way everything settled down and the many flashbacks that got us crying in nostalgia. With the many ups and downs, and the settling winds that are ready to spike up again, all we can say is that this has been yet another amazing season that has left us asking for more.
In Kim Sa-bu’s words, “Don’t give up on the question of why we live and what we live for. The moment we give up on that question, our romance is over.” Let the romance continue for a long long time.
