Donald Trump finally broke his silence over Mark Robinson’s porn site scandal but it was as good as his silence as the former president said he doesn’t know the situation. The Republican guv candidate for North Carolina Mark Robinson apparently made a series of salacious posts to a porn site including describing himself as a Black Nazi etc. years ago. But as the controversy erupted, he denied the allegations and those comments from that site in question were also deleted.
Donald Trump earlier endorsed Mark Robinson and called him Martin Luther King on steroids.Since North Carolina is a pivotal swing state, speculation were rife whether Mark Robinson will be asked to quit the race. Robinson was visibly absent from Trump’s campaign after the scandal broke out.
On Thursday, Trump was asked whether he would withdraw his endorsement of Robinson. “Uh, I don’t know the situation,” Trump said.
Kamala Harris campaign seized of the opportunity and posted a video of Mark Robinson saying that he spoke to Donald Trump and had a great conversation.
During a North Carolina rally in March, Trump said that Robinson was “better than Martin Luther King,” calling him “Martin Luther King times two.” CNN reported last week that Robinson referred to King as a “f****** commie bastard” and “Martin Lucifer Koon” in his alleged posts. Robinson’s office saw a mass exodus of staff after the revelations though Robinson maintained that those allegations first raised by CNN were nothing but tabloid gossips.
Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement released last week that the ex-president was “focused on winning the White House and saving this country” and that “North Carolina is a vital part of this plan” without mentioning Robinson.
Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff slammed Donald Trump for his silence over Mark Robinson. “The fact that Donald Trump was right here in Wilmington, right where I am sitting, where he could not disavow Mark Robinson. He was trying to ignore it, but he did not disavow what Robinson said,” Emhoff told NBC’s Jen Psaki in an interview scheduled to air Sunday.
