Donald Trump Epstein: Trump says he’d release Jeffrey Epstein files: ‘Fortunately, I was not…’

Former president Donald Trump said he would take a look at the Jeffrey Epstein files and be inclined to release them. “A lot of big people went to that island but fortunately I was not one of them,” Trump said at the Lex Fridman podcast. The comment came as he spoke about his assurance of establishing an independent presidential commission on the assassination attempts which would release all documents pertaining to the assassination of former President John F Kennedy.
On being asked why Trump had some hesitation over Epstein, Trump said he actually never had any hesitation as he was not involved.”He (Epstein) was a good salesman. He was a hale and hearty type of a guy. He had some nice assets that he’d throw around like islands. But a lot of big people went to that island. But fortunately I was not one of them,” Trump said adding that Kennedy files are very different from Epstein files but he would be inclined to release the latter as well as he has no problem.
Epstein was a New York and Florida-based financier who was facing trial for sex trafficking. In 2019, he died by suicide in his jail cell. He was accused of involving minors for sex. Epstein invited top-notch people to his private island and luxury homes. He and his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell hung out with princes, supermodels. Some big names with close association with Epstein revealed include Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Stephen Hawking, Michael Jackson, David Copperfield, Leonardi DiCaprio etc but they were not accused of any wrongdoing. They were in touch with him.
Trump and Epstein knew each other for long time
Trump was a friend of Epstein and spoke highly of him. “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Trump told New York magazine in 2002, before there were any public allegations of wrongdoing against multimillionaire money manager. “He’s a lot of fun to be with,” Trump said then. “It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
But after Epstein’s arrest, Trump said he was not a fan and had a falling out with him. This was also true as record said in 2004, they clashed over a property as both of them wanted to buy that.
