Does Pushpa 2 The Rule Have Repeat Value on OTT or Not?

Some films achieve success both in theaters and on OTT platforms, while others may not fare well in cinemas but receive a lot of love once they hit OTT.

On the other hand, some films that perform well in theaters may not have the same impact when released on OTT.

Take Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, for example. It was a massive hit at the box office but failed to create any buzz on OTT. After its streaming release, it quickly faded away from discussions, with even fans not celebrating it much after the first few days.

Similarly, Devera did decently in theaters but was largely forgotten once it finished its OTT phase of two weeks. However, the OTT response was still better than Kalki 2898 AD.

Last year’s blockbuster Animal also trended exceptionally well on Netflix for a few weeks with tremendous viewership due to the curiosity, controversies, music, bold scenes, and violence. However, after a few weeks, Animal also faded away.

In contrast, Salaar had a mixed response during its theatrical run. While it was successful, many found it slow, boring, and dark. However, its OTT release breathed new life into the film, attracting a fresh fanbase, especially among younger viewers.

These fans kept coming back to specific moments, like the Kateramma fight, giving Salaar great repeat value on platforms like Disney Plus Hotstar and Netflix. Salaar is trending even after one year of its OTT release.

Pushpa 2 also debuted on OTT recently with a strong initial response. However, going by the response, it doesn’t seem to have the same repeat value as Salaar.

While standout scenes like the climax’s Rappa Rappa fight and the Jathara episode create a strong impact, the novelty tends to fade after a few watches. They don’t give the same high during multiple viewings.

Unlike Salaar, where certain moments still give the same high upon repeat viewings, Pushpa 2 doesn’t seem to have the same lasting appeal.

While Pushpa 2’s repeat value is definitely better than Kalki and Devara, it still lacks Salaar’s long-term staying power. Only time will tell if Pushpa 2 gains more recognition on OTT, but for now, its impact appears limited.
