There have already been several complaints about the surplus and probably over numbered matches in international and domestic cricket. On top of that, the emergence of IPL means that two months of every year is loaded with high-profile action.
The point that must be noted here is that the IPL itself is becoming a tiring season of Cricket. Witnessing a single layer of cricketing action for around two months is leading to decrease interest.

This is evident if we look at the kind of crowd, turnouts, and TV viewership that has been declining for the IPL.
If the situation is not detrimental enough, the latest developments and the comment from the IPL chairman are suggesting that the number of matches per year could be increased soon.

It has been implied that starting from year 2028, the number of IPL games per season could be increased to 94. As of now, the average is around 60 to 70 games and this could be increased by a further 50% now.
While this might sound logically and financially, correct for the governing body, considering more revenue is generated through advertisements and screening rights, the spirit of cricket is in the question here.

There are already complaints about the overdose in cricketing action. If we had another 20+ games per season, then this would be an absolute overkill.
IPL was originally meant to be a short format game and a premier tournament. But now it has become elongated and tiring at times. And on top of that, we are now hearing that the tournament could get along that much more now.
