Director KS Ravikumar Rajinikanth

KS Ravikumar and Rajinikanth delivered two major blockbusters together, Muthu and Narasimha. This led to high expectations for their third film, Lingaa, released in 2014. Unfortunately, Lingaa ended up being an epic disaster.

Distributors suffered significant losses, prompting some to demand refunds. Reports indicated that after 25 days, the film had only earned back 30 percent of the down payment. Rajinikanth agreed to refund one-third of the ₹33 crore losses incurred by distributors and exhibitors.
