Law enforcement agencies took swift action, arresting two suspects in connection with her murder. It was later revealed that the motive behind the crime stemmed from a financial dispute involving the girl’s father, Azmatullah, who was engaged in the finance business.
In the political sphere, YSRCP leaders, including RK Roja and Shyamala Reddy, used the incident to criticize the ruling TDP government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order. However, a controversial misstep occurred when YSRCP leaders publicly disclosed the child’s name, which violated privacy protocols in such sensitive cases.

Despite the political rhetoric, the police acted swiftly, ensuring that the accused were apprehended quickly. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had initially planned to visit Punganur on October 9 to meet with the grieving family and offer condolences. However, this visit was eventually canceled, as announced by MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, who cited the police’s success in arresting the perpetrators as the reason.
Behind the scenes, it appears Peddireddy advised Jagan to cancel the visit due to concerns over escalating political tensions. There were fears that Jagan’s visit could provoke confrontations with TDP cadres, especially considering the political climate in Punganur, where Peddireddy has faced challenges, including threats from TDP supporters regarding his ability to enter the constituency.

This cancellation reflects the delicate balance of law and order in the region, where political tensions have the potential to intensify local unrest, particularly after such a high-profile crime. Peddireddy’s internal concerns about maintaining peace in the area likely played a key role in the decision to call off Jagan’s visit.
