Now, Desis on social media are buzzing about the idea of creating a similar portal between India and Pakistan. It all began when an ‘X’ user sparked the conversation by reposting the viral New York-Dublin video and writing, “install a portal bw india and pakistan PLEASE.” Since then, Indians have been eagerly imagining such a connection and voicing their desire for an India-Pakistan portal.
“Pleaseeeeeee. Especially kolkata aur lahore,” one user pleaded in the comments. Another joked, “Aunties are gonna become friends and then meet there to discuss handi recipes and talk crap about their susraal.” A third user chimed in, “Probably will end with NFA and Lata Mangeshkar jams.” The fourth continued, “This is like modern gate lahori gate in delhi and dilli gate in lahore.”
Meanwhile, many commenters pointed out that Coca-Cola did something similar between India and Pakistan about 10 years ago. Surprised? In March 2013, The Coca-Cola Company took a bold step to connect people in New Delhi, India, with those in Lahore, Pakistan.

How? Through the “Small World Machines” campaign. Conceptualised with the help of The Leo Burnett Company, Coca-Cola created a real-time communications portal between Indians and Pakistanis, delivering the message, “What unites us is stronger than what sets us apart.”
To share this message, the beverage brand used 3D touchscreen machines to project a live video feed onto vending machine screens in two shopping malls, one in New Delhi and the other in Lahore. Yes, just like the recent New York-Dublin portal.
Engaging with each other through the machines was simple: individuals from both countries were asked to complete tasks together, such as touching hands, drawing symbols of peace, love, and happiness, dancing, and more.
