A recent incident at the airport sparked discussions on social media, revealing how some airline staff are struggling with the UK’s new digital immigration system.
An Indian traveler heading to the UK with an e-visa faced significant issues at the Air India check-in counter. The staff refused to accept the e-visa, saying that the traveler couldn’t board due to an expiring Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

Despite the e-visa being valid for another two years, the check-in personnel were confused and insisted the traveler was ineligible to fly.
After much back-and-forth and pressing documents from their UKVO account, the traveler was finally permitted to board.

The incident underscore a larger problem – many airline employees are still not fully aware of the UK’s transition to digital visas.
