Balangir: After 18 dengue cases were reported from Saintala in Balangir district recently, a medical team started tests and surveillance in the area. District health officials said 11 patients are undergoing treatment at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital (BBMCH) and their condition is stable. The other patients have been discharged after they completely recovered from dengue.Sources said after the death of a 28-year-old man of Gopabandhupara due to suspected dengue in a private hospital in Bargarh about 12 days ago, some more residents complained of high fever and body ache.Staff of Saintala community health centre collected 30 blood samples for tests, out of which 18 were found positive for dengue. When the condition of 14 dengue patients deteriorated, they were shifted to BBMCH.“We have engaged a medical team in the affected locality. Situation is now under control,” said Pradeep Guru, chief district medical officer (CDMO), Balangir.
