The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is proving to be a threat to many working people in various sectors.
Multiple companies are now leaning towards AI technology rather than depending on human forces to do some work. As a result, many people are getting sacked from their respective companies.
In the latest development, tech giant Dell sacked around 12,500 employees in 2023, equal to 10% of its workforce, in the process of its shift towards AI products and services. The layoffs happened mainly in the company’s marketing and sales departments.
Apart from laying off the employees, Dell’s recent regulatory filing revealed that the company hired around 1,20,000 employees globally as of February 2024.
According to the reports, the decision to layoffs had been communicated to the employees through an internal mail by the company’s executives Bill Scannell and John Byrne.
As per the reports, Dell is aiming to become a leaner company by re-organizing its go-to-market teams and an ongoing series of actions.
The core trade of Dell is the PC business. With the help of advanced AI technology and services, Dell is aiming to grow bigger in the PC market.
