Atishi Marlena Singh, Aam Aadmi Party’s MLA from Kakaji constituency of Delhi, will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigned from his post and proposed Atishi for the position. AAP party leaders unanimously elected her for the CM position.
Kejriwal will submit his resignation letter to Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena this afternoon. Later, Atishi is expected to take the charge.

Atishi currently holds the ministries of Education and Public Works Department. She is an alumnus of Oxford University and was a Rhodes Scholar. She also worked as an IRS officer.
Since 2013, she has been working with Kejriwal and was one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party. Atishi, aged 43, will be one of the youngest politicians to assume the Chief Minister’s post in India.

After being released from jail on bail granted by the Supreme Court in the Delhi Excise Policy case, Arvind Kejriwal announced his decision to resign from his position.
He stated that he intends to prove his innocence to the public and expressed confidence that if people believe he is innocent, they will elect him as their leader once again in the upcoming Assembly elections.
