Crucial for Ram Charan, No Big Deal for NBK & Venky

Crucial for Ram Charan, No Big Deal for NBK & Venky

This Sankranti, we have three films clashing. Ram Charan’s Game Changer is releasing after the massive global success of RRR. Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj follows the goodwill he garnered from Anil Ravipudi’s Bhagavanth Kesari. Meanwhile, Venkatesh, coming off an outright disaster like Saindhav, teamed up with Anil Ravipudi again for Sankranthiki Vasthunam.

When analyzing the Sankranti lineup, an important question arises: which hero among the three has the most at stake and needs a hit the most?

While all three films are crucial for their respective production houses, producers, directors, and heroes, the answer is clear—Ram Charan stands out as the one who absolutely needs a hit.

As a younger Tier 1 star with higher stakes, especially after having the global star tag post-RRR, Ram Charan faces immense pressure to deliver, particularly in the pan-India market.

This added burden of proving his mettle across Hindi-speaking regions, in addition to the Telugu box office, makes Game Changer critical for him. Unlike senior stars like Balakrishna and Venkatesh, whose careers are less dependent on films at this point, Ram Charan must meet heightened expectations and deliver numbers that solidify his position as a global star.

That’s not to say Balakrishna and Venkatesh don’t benefit from hits. A successful film would undoubtedly boost their momentum and encourage their fans, but their careers are at a stage where moderate successes or occasional setbacks don’t carry the same weight.

For Ram Charan, however, a hit is crucial—not just for his career trajectory but also for maintaining his standing among Telugu cinema’s contemporary Tier 1 stars like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, and NTR, all of whom have recently delivered strong pan-India performances.

In that sense, Ram Charan’s Game Changer carries significantly higher stakes than the other two films. Also, a success for Game Changer would also mark a glorious comeback for director Shankar, who has entertained generations of fans with his iconic films. Let’s hope Ram Charan not only scores a hit but also brings Shankar back into form.
