Former Kerala Minister and Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leader G. Sudhakaran has hit out at businessman Boby Chemmanur, who has been arrested by the police in a sexual harassment case filed by a woman actor.
Speaking at a function at Kayamkulam in Alappuzha on Thursday (January 9, 2025), Mr. Sudhakaran referred to Mr. Chemmanur as “a shameless person.”
Mr. Sudhakaran asked why the police had not registered a suo moto case against the businessman, who reportedly humiliated numerous women. “The gold trader, who was arrested yesterday (Wednesday), is a shameless person. Fifteen years ago, I told my wife that he was a bad person. He is displaying the arrogance that comes with having a lot of money,” Mr. Sudhakaran said.
The CPI (M) leader said that if this had happened in Alappuzha, people would have “beaten” Mr. Chemmanur.
Mr. Sudhakaran said that “Kerala, which claims to be ahead in everything, is also seeing a moral degradation.”
“We boast about being number one in everything. Who said we are number one? Arrogant claims and hollow statements will not find a place in world history,” he said while asking “where the women’s organisations and intellectuals have gone.”
