Currently the Mahindra’s newest SUV the Scorpio-N is one of the if not the most talked SUVs in the country. It has received an immense amount of success since its launch and has broken almost every record of Mahindra till now. Mahindra has launched the Scorpio-N with four variants starting from base Z2 to all the way up to Z8 with two different engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. Recently, a YouTube video of drag racing this SUV with another beast of an SUV the Toyota Fortuner has surfaced online. The video shows both of these mammoths having a drag race.
The video has been uploaded on YouTube by Pratham Shokeen on his channel. The presenter begins the video by telling the details about the competing Scorpio-N and the Fortuner. He tells that they previously have drag-raced both cars but last time the Scorpio was a petrol variant. He told that both the SUVs were diesel variants this time around and were equipped with torque converter automatic transmissions.

The Toyota Fortuner in the video was equipped with a 2.8L diesel engine that produces around 175 bhp and 450 Nm of torque. Meanwhile the Scorpio-N in the video had the 2.2 mHawk diesel engine which produces around 175 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. The Fortuner weighs around 2,180 kgs and Scorpio-N on the other hand weighs around 2,510 kgs.
After the introduction of the SUVs the presenter then lines up the owners and the SUVs and they compare the previous races and share their opinions on the winners. Following this the presenter then hops in the Fortuner and explains that he has put the SUV in power mode and has turned off the traction. He then proceeds to ask the Scorpio-N owner to do the same. After this they both launch their SUVs.
From the video we can note that in the first race the Toyota Fortuner takes a lead on the Scorpio-N and then starts pulling away from the Mahindra SUV. Mid way the Fortuner gains around a car lengths gap and then finishes off ahead of the Scorpio-N. The presenter and his co-pilot then discuss that the Fortuner has a better shifting transmission.
Next they line up once again each other and this time around the presenter asks the Scorpio-N’s owner to turn-off the air conditioner. They both then do the same and start the race. We can then see that time around the Fortuner had a poor start and Scorpio-N almost caught it in the launch however then the Fortuner once again takes over the race and creates a huge gap before finishing ahead.
They then race for third and the final round and in this round they have 3 passengers in both of the SUVs. The Fortuner was kept in the normal mode with air conditioner and traction off, meanwhile the Scorpio-N was allowed to have the Zoom mode on and traction off with air conditioning turned off as well. In the last race also, the Fortuner had a bad start and this time it seemed like the Scorpio-N is going to win but later it catches up and wins the race for the third and the final time.
