Manoj Paramahamsa, who has already worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj in the movie Leo, has mentioned in an interview that initially Lokesh Kanagaraj had planned to do an international-level stuff movie with Imax Cameras with Rajinikanth.

But due to the time constraints and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s pressure to complete Rajinikanth’s movie in 6 months, Lokesh Kanagaraj has come up with a new script for Coolie.
Also, he mentioned that the initial idea of Lokesh Kanagaraj before Coolie was exciting gangster stuff with a science fiction touch, and it also required stars from different industries in India. Also, he wished to do that story instead of the script, which is happening now as Coolie.
