The Paris Olympics is again in a huge controversy and this time the question raised is much more serious and the fairness of the games is at stake. An Algerian boxer in the women’s bout defeated her opponent within a minute as she surrendered after facing a few punches from her opponent. Angela Carini from Italy cried after the match and she didn’t shake her hands after the bout.

There are widespread allegations that Imane Khelif from Algeria is a biological male. A campaign has started against participation of athletes like her in female competitions. The Algerian boxer was once banned because it was proved that she has XY chromosomes. Women are generally born with XX chromosomes.

There has been an attempt to make the games more inclusive and fair at the same time. Unfortunately, when it is made more inclusive, fairness has to suffer. It is no doubt a serious concern for all the athletes who believe that she didn’t belong to play in the women’s category.

However, it is important to note that she is not a biological male and she was born as a female. The Paris Olympics didn’t find any grounds for her disqualification but there is an uproar now that the game has been compromised.
