A huge controversy sparked online when Prime Video India posted a meme referring to the similarity of popular singer Jennie’s new song and Pritam’s Rani theme from Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
Blackpink’s Jennie had teased a new song titled ‘Like Jennie’ and it immediately created a huge hype. The teaser seemed to some to be very similar to Alia’s theme music. And when Prime Video posted a photo of Alia with the caption, ‘BLACKPINK fans, we bet you can hear this image’, fans took it as an insult to Jennie.

Prime Video immediately deleted the post but the outrage continued. People urged the platform to apologise to Jennie. And now, in an interesting turn of events, Pritam, the composer has posted a note on social media saying that the song is not a copy.
He said the names Rani and Jennie are very similar and to rhyme them, similar rhythms can be used and there is nothing wrong in that. He said that there is no reason to accuse Jennie of plagiarising. Fans of the K-pop singer are very happy with the composer’s statement in solidarity with Jennie and they again demand an apology on Prime Video’s part.
