Telangana is experiencing relief from the biting cold wave, as minimum temperatures across the State show a steady upward trend.
According to data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), the lowest minimum temperature recorded on December 20, 2024, was 14°C in Adilabad, while Khammam registered the highest minimum temperature at 22.6°C.
Earlier in the week December 16, a cold wave gripped the State, with as many as 27 districts recording temperatures below 10°C, and the highest minimum temperature hovering around 12°C. However, as the week progressed, chilly mornings began to ease, providing much-needed respite to residents.
Hyderabad, the State capital, which experienced temperatures ranging between 10°C and 15°C during the early days of the week, recorded an average of 21.4°C on Friday morning.
Kumaram Bheem Asifabad recorded a minimum temperature of 15.5°C, followed by Rajanna Sircilla at 16°C, Nizamabad at 16.1°C, Nirmal at 16.5°C, and Kamareddy at 16.8°C. Other districts, including Vikarabad (17.1°C), Sangareddy (17.8°C), Siddipet (17.9°C), Rangareddy (18.1°C), Medak (18.2°C), and Jagtial (18.3°C), also reported moderately cold weather.
In the southern parts of the State, minimum temperatures were slightly higher. Mahabubnagar recorded 19.4°C, while Mancherial and Yadadri Bhongir registered 19.5°C and 19.7°C, respectively. Hanamkonda noted 19.9°C, and Peddapalli and Jangaon both recorded 20°C. Karimnagar (20.2°C), Jayashankar Bhupalpally (20.6°C), Narayanpet and Mulugu (20.8°C each), and Nalgonda (21°C) saw a marginal rise in temperatures.
In urban and central districts, Medchal-Malkajgiri recorded a minimum temperature of 21.1°C, Hyderabad stood at 21.4°C, and Warangal noted 21.6°C. Wanaparthy and Mahabubabad reported 21.8°C, while Jogulamba Gadwal registered 22.1°C. Bhadradri Kothagudem (22.2°C), Suryapet (22.5°C), and Khammam (22.6°C) rounded off the list with the highest minimum temperatures in the State.
