Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy to work for securing support of the Centre for the spree of developmental projects launched in Telangana.
The Chief Minister discussed about the regional ring road, second phase of metro rail, sewerage system and underground drainage project in Warangal and allocation of coal blocks to Singareni Collieries Company Limited and related issues with the Union Minister when he called on him on Thursday.
He sought the Centre’s support in the execution of projects worth ₹1.63 lakh crore planned by the State government. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance on taking up construction of regional ring road in 2022 and said the State government had started the process for acquiring required land in this direction. The government had concluded a tripartite agreement in this direction, but was awaiting clearances from the National Highways Authority of India.
The Union Government should ensure speedy clearances for the proposed works as completion of RRR and associated radial roads would pave the way for the development of pharma industry as well as setting up of industrial hubs, logistical parks and recreational parks. The Union Minister was requested to secure clearances relating to the two sides of the RRR, involving ₹34,367 crore, pending with the Centre.
Mr. Revanth informed Mr. Kishan Reddy that radial roads should be developed for connecting the outer ring road with the RRR and the project including 10 greenfield roads would entail expenditure of around ₹45,000 crore. Likewise, phase two of metro rail connecting Nagole to international airport, Rayadurgam to Kokapet, MGBS-Chandrayangutta, LB Nagar-Hayatnagar and Miyapur-Patancheru, over a stretch of 76.4 km would cost ₹24,269 crore. The Centre should take steps to ensure that the project would be taken up on 50:50 basis by the State and Union governments.
Mr. Revanth Reddy reiterated the government’s request to allocate 222.27 acre defence land enabling the State government to take up the prestigious Gandhi Sarovar project as part of Musi riverfront development project. He told Mr. Kishan Reddy that a representation was already made to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in this direction.
He explained that the government proposed to take up Gandhi Sarovar, Musi sewerage, construction of 11 heritage bridges and other works with an estimated ₹14,100 crore. The Centre should take steps to accord speedy clearances as well as providing financial assistance to these projects.
