The By-election was necessitated due to the disqualification of sitting MLC Vamsi Krishna Srinivas who jumped from YSR Congress to Janasena just before the elections.
YSR Congress has a huge lead in the voters of Visakha local bodies. There are 841 voters out of which 615 are from YSR Congress. TDP has only 215 votes.

The TDP boycotted the 2020 elections at that time. However, the party’s fans and leaders contested and won in many areas.
But then, it will be a different ball game altogether with YSR Congress no longer in power. TDP can win if it takes this election prestigiously.

Meanwhile, Anakapalli MP CM Ramesh is given the responsibility of this election.
Ramesh is known for his excellent electioneering skills even though the recent election is his first direct election.
In fact, with his electioneering, we have seen TDP+ registering a clean sweep in Anakapalli and the constituencies under it.
Ramesh already announced that TDP will put up the candidate on behalf of the coalition parties.
So, the contest will basically boil down to ‘Botsa Vs CM Ramesh’.
Recently Assembly Elections ended up as a big humiliation for Botsa and his family.
Botsa’s family was given five tickets and they lost all of them.
Botsa from Cheepurupalli, his brother Appalanarasaiah from Gajapathinagaram, and his co-brother Baddukonda Appalanaidu from Nelimarla lost by huge margins.
His wife Botsa Jhansi lost in Vishakapatnam Parliament by a record margin. Vizianagaram YSR Congress MP candidate Bellana Chandrasekhar is also a relative of Botsa and he lost as well.
If Botsa loses this MLC election, it may be curtains to his political career.
