Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur observed a weeklong programme to create awareness on cancer cervix from January 23 to 28.
“Cancer cervix is the second most common cancer in women after breast cancer. It is difficult to detect because a woman does not have any complaints in the initial stage. But the good news is that it can be prevented,” a press release from CIHSR stated.
The institute conducted free awareness teaching on cervical cancer in the Gynae OPD where 60 women benefitted. Free pap-smear screening was given to 30 women. A seminar was held with the women leaders of various churches in and around CIHSR.
A CME was conducted on the same which was well attended by doctors and nurses of various hospitals in Dimapur.
“We believe that the little effort we made will bring a difference in the lives of many women in our state,” it stated.
