Chris Wood has set two new records after his sensational start to the Premier League campaign helped fire Nottingham Forest to third in the top-flight standings.

The 32-year-old was the league’s surprise top scorer in October, finding the back of the net four times in three Premier League appearances as the club celebrated an unbeaten month.

His goals against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and Leicester helped Forest continue their stunning start to the season and Wood has since been honoured for his achievement.

The former Newcastle and Burnley striker has now been recognised for his brilliant run of form by being crowned the Premier League’s player of the month for October.

His accolade makes Wood the first Nottingham Forest player to win the award and also the first New Zealander, with the club celebrating his record-breaking achievement.

Wood’s stunning form has deservedly thrust him into the Premier League’s golden boot race with eight strikes in 10 games putting him second only to Erling Haaland on 11 goals.

A return of 0.89 goals-per-game has transformed Wood’s career at the City Ground having scored only 14 Premier League goals in 31 appearances last season.

The Auckland-born striker has become an integral focal point of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad with the Forest boss similarly named Premier League manager of the month.

Praising his team-mates, Wood was beaming upon being given his award, telling the club: ‘It’s amazing, I am overt he moon with it, fantastic achievement. It’s just a credit to all of us how the team is working.

‘They are providing me with all the chances so it’s nice that I’ve been able to tuck them away for them.’

Wood and Forest boss Santo celebrated their individual successes with the rest of the squad and club staff who have been integral in helping put them in the mix for a place in European competition next season.

However, Wood will be hard tasked to continue his brilliant run of goalscoring with upcoming clashes against Newcastle before Forest make a trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal.
