Chiranjeevi and Sridevi’s Telugu classic Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari has returned to the big screen 35 years after its original release on May 9, 1990. Directed by K.Raghavendra Rao and featuring Amrish Puri in a pivotal role, the fantasy film was produced by Vyjayanthi Movies on a budget of Rs 2 crore. It went on to earn Rs 15 crore at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film of its time. The movie was eventually dubbed in Hindi as Aadmi Aur Apsara, Kaadhal Devathai in Tamil and Hai Sundari in Malayalam.
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, the makers hosted a special event. At the event, Chiranjeevi has expressed his desire to make a sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, starring his son Ram Charan and Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles.

Chiranjeevi said, “I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion. She was the heart of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. Her character felt like a dream. It was the first time we worked together and our chemistry was truly special.”
Chiranjeevi also expressed how he wasn’t in favour of a sequel to the film earlier. But, now something has changed in him. He shared, “I would love to see Nag Ashwin direct it with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The story would be closely tied to the original. It could be a dream project for both actors.”
Nag Ashwin, married to Priyanka Dutt, daughter of C Aswini Dutt, the founder of Vyjayanthi Movies, previously collaborated with the production house to make the mythological fantasy drama, Kalki: 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles.
If the makers consider making the sequel with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, it will mark their second collaboration after Peddi. The film is all set to hit the theatres on March 27 next year.
