Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Chinta Mohan on Thursday condemned RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that India gained independence only after the construction of the Ram temple, calling it “historically inaccurate and misleading”.

Addressing a press conference in Ongole, Dr. Chinta Mohan criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the provocative issue raised by Mr. Bhagwat and urged the Chief Justice of India to stop further maligning communal peace in the country.

He expressed concern over the economic struggles of SCs, STs, and OBCs, pointing out that there are no SC millionaires in Prakasam district and that OBCs faced similar hardships. He noted that SCs in India were fragmented into 850 castes, with 87 sub-castes in Uttar Pradesh alone, and criticised the Andhra Pradesh government for setting up a single-member commission to address these issues, calling it ineffective.

Dr. Chinta Mohan further criticised the neglect of public sector undertakings (PSUs) under the current government. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan of failing to protect Andhra Pradesh’s interests, particularly the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

He claimed that there are conspiracies to sell 25,000 acres of land owned by the plant, valued at over ₹2.5 lakh crore. He felt that all party leaders should unite and address economic inequality and protect public assets.
