Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who once stirred controversy with his remarks about Shah Rukh Khan during the release of Pathaan in January 2023, has now caught everyone’s attention again. But even though this was because of a playful Bollywood reference, narrative war has already started.
On December 25, 2025, Sarma shared a tweet featuring a picturesque mustard field from Majuli, Assam, with the caption: “Reminiscent of the cult classic DDLJ? Well, in Assam we are empowering all our daughters to जी ले अपनी जिंदगी .” The reference to Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) quickly set social media abuzz.

This tweet comes nearly three years after Sarma dismissed Shah Rukh Khan with his infamous remark, “Who is Shah Rukh Khan?” when asked about Bajrang Dal protests against Pathaan.
His stance softened after SRK personally called him at 2 AM to address safety concerns. At the time, Sarma assured Khan that the state government would ensure law and order, leading many to accuse him of taking a U-turn.

With this DDLJ-inspired post, users are now poking fun at the CM’s evolving relationship with Bollywood. Comments like “Welcome to the SRK fanclub” and “From ‘Who is SRK?’ to quoting DDLJ, what a journey!” have flooded social media.
The tweet showcases a lighter side of the Assam CM, but it also reminds everyone of how narratives, even in politics, can take unexpected cinematic twists. From Pathaan to DDLJ, it seems Shah Rukh Khan’s influence has made a lasting impression!
