RAIPUR: Residents of a remote region in Balrampur district have locked themselves inside their homes after recovery of three skeleton remains at a deserted brick plant located adjoining the farmland of dozens of villagers. Police have barricaded the region since the plant premises and agricultural land have skeleton bones partially buried all around, giving shivers to the onlookers.
It’s suspected that the remains could be of a woman and her kids who went missing in September with no traces found.
Dahejwar village of Balrampur district in Chhattisgarh was shocked on November 15 when one of the farmers informed police about skeleton remains found scattered in his field and an abandoned brick plant nearby.
Additional SP Vishwadeepak Tripathi said that the skeletons in the field were found buried, the soil of which might have got uncovered and the remains started showing up. A police and forensic team reached the spot to examine the remains and have seized them all. They were checking if there were more such burials. The origin and timeline of the remains were a matter of investigation, police said, adding that prima facie, it appears to be decade old, though the confirmation will be done only after postmortem.
Since it seems to be the skeletal remains of three humans, police said that according to locals, a woman Kaushalya Thakur, 36, and her daughter Muktawati, 17 and son Mintu, 8, who went missing on September 27.
The brick plant has remained closed for a long time. Though many locals bury the bodies underground, it’s unlikely that the remains found were from the ritualistic burial as they were found here and there.
