In what comes as a major jolt to Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed his quash petition on Friday. He approached the HC with regards to the POCSO case filed against him.
Tirupati police had filed a case against Chevireddy for spreading false rumours about a girl. Previously, Chevireddy had claimed that a 14-yr-old girl was sexually assaulted. Not stopping there, he had spread the news on social media. However, the police took note of the matter and found that Chevireddy’s allegations were baseless.

The girl’s father too complained against Chevireddy following which a POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) case was filed against Chevireddy.
The 14-yr-old girl hailing from Yarravaripalem in Tirupati had claimed that a few masked people took her on her way back from school and made her drink an intoxicating drink.

Without getting to know the facts, ex MLA Chevireddy reached the girl’s school and claimed that she was sexually assaulted and extended support to the girl.
Though the police later informed that the girl was not assaulted following medical tests, Chevireddy continued to talk about it in social media.

Since it involved a teenage girl and since Chevireddy’s comments attracted public attention towards the family, it came under the ambit of POCSO Act.
The girl’s father had filed a complaint against Chevireddy for spreading false information leading to family’s distress.
